Stanley Electric's Entry into a New Era

In April 2000, in order to fulfill its mission in the new era of the 21st century, Stanley Electric established the Stanley Group Vision, which illustrates the direction the company should take for the future. The company announced the Vision as the group's shared basic values and that the core purpose of the Stanley Group is to contribute to society by creating value in the form of technologies and products and delivering them through manufacturing. This is done by the boundless pursuit of the value of light and by the discovery of the infinite possibilities of light. Despite facing challenging economic and business circumstances, Takanori Kitano, the new President, was aggressive in business expansion instead of being kept on the defensive. The company went through organizational changes to promote a consolidated financial management made up of self-contained and self-responsible business divisions and to introduce the three-dimensional group matrix management. The company started efforts to be an enterprise with global presence creating global values.

The Introduction of Three-dimensional Group Matrix Management

In April 2001, in order to set out and implement global strategies, Stanley Electric made a shift to the three-dimensional group matrix management that consisted of three axes: business divisions, cross-divisional functions, and group companies.
First, the Electronics Equipment Business Division and the Automotive Equipment Business Division were abolished, and the following ten divisions were established: Optoelectronic Device Division, Display Device Division, Lighting Device Division, Lighting Application Division, Strobe Division, Integrated Components Division, Automotive Divisions I and II, Motorcycle Division, and Accessory & Parts Division. Then, a consolidated division management was established so that the ten divisions as well as domestic and overseas group companies operated on a self-supporting basis. Also, a business management office was newly established to ensure the overall control of all divisions as well as management optimization.
Strategies for cross-divisional functions were formulated independently so that they could effectively collaborate with each other and solve their common problems. Also, the domestic and overseas group companies were encouraged to be independent to play their roles in implementing strategies.

Global Expansion towards the World's Five Key Regions

In 2001, Stanley Electric reached a global cooperation agreement with HELLA, Germany's leading automotive lighting manufacturer, to cooperate together and become the world's number-one supplier of automotive lighting. The cooperation partnership later expanded, leading to the establishment of the fifty-fifty joint venture Hella-Stanley Holding Pty Ltd. (HESA) in February 2002. It was headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, and was designed to serve as an investing firm when the two companies expanded their joint business. In 2021, the two companies continued their partnership and signed an agreement for their 5th cooperation.
In August 2001, Stanley Electric Hungary KFT. (SEH) was also established as a production base in Hungary. As a result, the company had production bases in all five key regions (Japan, the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and China) and became a global supplier capable of providing speedy and excellent services to customers worldwide.
